The National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training, the Goyder Institute for Water Research and Flinders University are pleased to host Prof. Dr. Makoto Taniguchi, a hydrogeologist at the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature (RIHN), Japan for a special Water-Energy-Food Nexus seminar.
Water, energy, and food are fundamental resources for human beings and society, and these resources are interlinked with each other. Therefore, we need integrated management and governance for the water-energy-food (WEF) nexus by increasing synergies and reducing trade-offs among the three resources, economy and environment for sustainability. The International Belmont Forum project on Urban WEF Nexus has initiated the development of a nexus model to analyze the WEF nexus structure and assess environmental and economic impacts, with three databases of resources, interlinkages, and scenarios at multi-spatial scales. Prof. Dr. Makoto Taniguchi will speaking on developments in this area.
